Shelley Johnson, PhDProvost & Chief Academic Officer
Dr. Shelley Johnson holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in nursing and business and two doctorates in educational leadership. She also completed certificate programs from Harvard University in educational leadership and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, and a Community Participatory Research Fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania. Her PhD focused on AI integration into higher education institutions to improve student success outcomes. Dr. Johnson has created, taught, and led undergraduate and graduate programs for over 20 years. Shelley serves as Provost/Chief Academic Officer, and Interim Dean of Curriculum & Instruction at Joyce University. She has worked in higher education administration for Salem University, Florida A&M University, Chamberlain University, Lincoln University, PA, Rutgers University, and LaSalle University. She was Lincoln University in Pennsylvania’s Founding Director and Chair of Nursing and Health Science. She recently served as a Dean at Florida A&M University, where she brought the nursing program back into accreditation and regulatory compliance, increased pass rates, and increased enrollment by over 200%. Her specialties include higher education, leadership, curriculum and instruction, assessment, and community health. She is certified as a nurse executive, nurse educator, and a comprehensive systematic reviewer. Dr. Johnson lives transformational and servant leadership. She serves as a Sigma Theta Tau, Xi Chapter member at the University of Pennsylvania and continues to serve on other community organization boards. Dr. Johnson has served as a reviewer for the Joanna Briggs Institute, the Journal of Leadership, the Florida Nurses Association, and Sigma Theta Tau International. She has published articles and book chapters, served as a subject matter expert, and participated in research on various topics. These topics included: Healthy educational environments, health disparities, cultural diversity, advocacy, leadership, and nursing education, including competency-based education. She served as Associate Editor and Reviewer Coordinator for the ABNFF Journal and is currently on the editorial board of the International Journal of Health Science & Biomedicine (IJHSB). Her research interests include nursing and general educational practices, educational technology, healthy work environments, and leadership development. She also conducts presentations and workshops on these topics for academic and business groups.
