The Chief Academic Officer blog

Greetings!

ACAO is delighted to re-introduce our blog series. The goal of the series is to address the on-going challenges and opportunities that face our members in their Chief Academic Officer roles. The series will be penned by our members for our members, drawing on the wealth of experience that all of us have accumulated over our academic lives. We will also draw on the expertise of our Advisory Board, comprising CAO emeriti who support the work of ACAO.

One of the strengths and the uniqueness of ACAO is that our membership spans the ecosystem of higher education. While many of us have unique concerns, we also face the same headwinds in terms of student enrollment, the great resignation, changes in student demographics, and more.

Over the next few months, our blog will cover a wide range of topics including, unionization, retention and hiring of faculty, athletics and the provost, succession planning, and digital learning. The richness of the blog will be enhanced through the participation of our members. We invite you to comment on our posts and add your own experiences and thoughts.

And all our members are invited to contribute posts. If you are interested in penning a blog, please contact [email protected]

We’re excited to start on this journey!

Beth Ingram

ACAO President
